The Regional Delivery Partnership is a framework contract with Highways England for the development, design and construction of capital road projects that form part of the Regional Investment Programme during Road Period 1 (2015 to 2020) and Road Period 2 (2020 to 2025).  The Costain Jacobs Partnership were awarded two lots; Lot 7 (East Region) & Lot 8 (North Region).    This vacancy relates to Lot 8 for the delivery of 3 schemes along the A1 corridor in Newcastle and Northumberland, with a combined value in excess of £600m;   Package B10 Schemes A1 Scotswood to North Brunton – currently in construction A1 Birtley to Coal House – construction March 2021 – end 2023. A1 in Northumberland – construction end 2021 – late 2024.   This role is for the A1 Scotswood to North Brunton scheme.   There is an overlap with design and construction with the design coming to an end later this year and construction starting earlier this year. The design is being undertaken by our design partner Jacobs. The RDP Hub is the site compound and the Package B10 head office which is located at Blaydon in Gateshead, and will serve both A1S2NB & A1B2CH schemes.   Currently the works are being carried out solely on nightshift due to traffic management restrictions so the role may require nightshift working for periods. We have an exiciting opportunity for a Tunnel Electrician working on our Thames Tideway project.   Costain helps to improve people’s lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation infrastructures.   Thames Tideway Tunnel, Main Works East is a £650m project recently secured by a Costain joint venture (“CVB”), to provide a new 7.2m diameter tunnel to divert waste from the Victorian built sewer from discharging into the Thames. The tunnel runs from Chambers Wharf to Abbey Mills where it connects with the Lee Tunnel. The works include: the main tunnel drive, a connection tunnel from Greenwich Pumping Station, shaft constructions, a connection to the newly constructed Lee Tunnel project, and minor works at Beckton Sewage Treatment, all as part of an overall project to reduce sewer discharge overflows into the River Thames. The works are scheduled to commence on site in March 2016 and complete in March 2022.
