The HS2 Main Civils Contracts include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The first 16 months of the project will involve detailed design, pricing and building up target cost, with work on site likely to start in early 2020.

Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM driven), SCL tunnels/adits, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, utilities diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

Security Vetting: HS2 requires SCS to undertake security vetting on all staff to the UK Government Baseline Personal Security Standard. All successful candidates will be subject to this vetting procedure as part of the on-boarding process.

We currently have a vacancies for Planning Engineers on our HS2 Main Works Contract.

About the role:

 

Assist the Senior Planner to develop and monitor the construction programme, ensuring compliance with the SCS planning standards and HS2 requirements to provide a safe, efficient and cost effective programme meeting all required access dates, milestones and key dates. Reporting to the Senior Planner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), calendars and dates to be used by SCS, aligned with the Cost Break Down Structure (CBS) and Employer`s Data Dictionary.
  • Ensure programmes are coded correctly and implement regular quality checks
  • Help to develop cost and resource loaded construction programmes during Stage One and Stage Two and with their submission in accordance with the required delivery milestones.
  • Ensuring the construction programme meets all required access dates, milestones and key dates in compliance with the Employer’s Planning requirements, contract data and works information.
  • Maintain short term and look ahead programmes
  • Interfacing with other functional teams including BIM Team, design team, estimation and construction.
  • Progress monitoring and regular updating of the construction programme
  • Cooperation with the Project Controls and Change Management in all related construction programme matters.
  • Undertake regular site visits and checks to ensure short term plans are implemented

About you

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

 

  • Degree in civil engineering or an appropriate qualification
  • Prior experience in planning function in civil engineering projects
  • Knowledge of the development and implementation of, Planning Standards, WBS and Planning processes in a BIM environment.
  • Competence in Primavera P6 and Tilos, Excel, Word, Visio
  • Knowledge of Safety, Environment and Risk Management
  • Good communication skills
