    This is a part time HR Advisor role, (18 hours) which will provide HR Support to the Southern Water Project, based in Falmer (with be some travelling around the Kent area to various sites)

     

    Responsible for managing and delivering a varied caseload of HR work and HR projects. Providing advice, guidance and practical support across the full range of HR issues (Sickness, ET’s, disputes, discipline, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, diversity, organisational development and change.

    What will I be doing?

    This is an exciting part time opportunity, you will be responsible for:

    • HR Service and Support – provide a generalist HR support and advisory service to employees across the full range of HR issues (Sickness, ET’s, disputes, discipline, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, diversity, organisational development and change etc) in line with guidelines provided by Costain
    • Employee Relations – Deliver work agreed with the HR Business Partner on a varied and/or complex caseload across the full range of HR issues (Sickness, ET’s, disputes, discipline, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, diversity, organisational development and change etc) within HR policies and guidelines
    • Reward & Benefits – provide guidance on reward queries
    • Workforce Planning/Redeployment – As directed by the HR Business Partner, work collaboratively with the Recruitment Team to assist in staff redeployment
    • Project Work – As directed by the HR Business Partner, work on/contribute to HR projects to support successful delivery
    • HR Meetings – attend and contribute effectively to all appropriate HR meetings.
    • Capability Development – Linking with the Learning & Development function to encourage training plans, career development of our people/employees and support L&D initiatives
    • Relationship Management – manage customer and colleague relationships (internally and externally) to maximise the effectiveness of HR
    • Personal Development – maintain and develop own knowledge of Costain, HR practices and developments and personal skills within the framework of guidance and support provided by HRBP. Own and maintain CPD
    • Record & Information Management – maintain own records and information management practices.

    • Organisation and administrative skills
    • Ability to work on your own but also a part of a team that is based from different locations
    • Ability to travel to different locations around the UK
    • Ability to advise and work with senior members of staff
    • Knowledge of employment legislation
    • Strong communication and relationship building capabilities
    • Driven and determined
    • Practical and logical – always looking for solutions

    Essential Qualification and Experience (minimum required)

    • HR experience
    • Working towards CIPD qualification and membership

    Desirable Qualification and Experience (the ideal)

    • Experience with HR Advisory type of work
    • Associate CIPD membership
    • Full Driving Licence
