    The Business Development Manager will be responsible for horizon-scanning to identify new areas of business opportunity in the transportation market and for translating these into productive campaigns which exploit new and emerging areas of investment.

     

    The Business Development Manager will assimilate industry thinking and best practice from across the transportation market to identify the relevant trends and opportunities. He or she will advise and recommend to the sector directors and their teams on the direction in which the industry is moving and how we ensure we remain competitive and relevant.

     

    The Business Development Manager will also work with campaign leaders and key account directors to identify and develop the right relationships in the industry. The Business Development Manager reports to the Sales and Marketing Director.

     

     

    What will I be doing?

    Key Accountabilities:

     

    • Preparing a business development strategy that links the five-year business plan with measurable, pinpointed actions that will result in the plan objectives being achieved

     

    • Establishing and applying the systems for horizon scanning and identification of new business opportunities, working with the Marketing Communications Manager to obtain suitable research and intelligence

    • Identifying, setting up, resourcing and actively managing the various work-winning campaigns that will be implemented across the division to target new areas of client investment; monitoring the success of these campaigns against agreed targets and KPIs

    • Acting as a shaper in key propositions and tenders, contributing to the intellectual strengths of the bid but never acting as bid or proposal manager

    • Working with the sectors to identify and develop the key relationships needed to deliver the business development strategy

     

     

     

    About you

    Qualifications and Experience:

     

    • Degree-qualified, most likely in engineering or other numerate discipline

    • Member of appropriate professional body or institution

    • Experienced business developer who has worked in the transportation market and who understands the dynamics and key priorities in this area

    • Excellent communicator and relationship-builder with good written skills, an engaging and knowledgeable professional who can readily build strong and lasting relationships
