    The HS2 Main Civils Contracts include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The first 16 months of the project will involve detailed design, pricing and building up target cost, with work on site likely to start in early 2020.

    Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM driven), SCL tunnels/adits, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, utilities diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

    Security Vetting: HS2 requires SCS to undertake security vetting on all staff to the UK Government Baseline Personal Security Standard. All successful candidates will be subject to this vetting procedure as part of the on-boarding process.

    What will I be doing?

    We currently have a vacancy for an Area Logistics Manager on our HS2 Main Works Contract.

    Working hours: Weekdays with occasional night and wekeend working subject to operational requirements

    Contract: Permanent

     

    About the role:

    The Area Logistics Managers will join the SCS Logistics team that manages construction logistics across the HS2 main works. They will be responsible for Logistics operations for a geographic area of the S1/S2 area and ensuring effective planning, execution and review. The Area Logistics Managers will be expected to work as a team providing support, cover and developing best practice.

    The role is aimed at Logistics professionals and other construction specialists who can demonstrate a track-record of achievement in project, people and client management in the construction industry.

     

    Role Success Criteria

    • Ensuring a safe operation complying with the SCS company safety system
    • Optimising efficiency in operation of human and non-human assets
    • Forecasting and capacity planning within site and HS2 Environmental Statement constraints
    • Managing effective coordination between the Control Tower, site operations and suppliers
    • Effective issue resolution

    • Site logistics operations
    • Construction logistics planning and Construction Logistics Plans 
    • Vehicle management system
    • Booking-in process
    • HGV compliance
    • Performance reporting
    • Goods receipt and stock control
    • Highways & transport management
    • Rail operations
