    Costain helps to improve people’s lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation infrastructures.


    The HS2 Main Civils Contracts include both Lots S1 (Euston Tunnels & Approaches) and S2 (Northolt Tunnels). The first 16 months of the project will involve detailed design, pricing and building up target cost, with work on site likely to start in early 2020.

    Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM driven), SCL tunnels/adits, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, utilities diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

    Security Vetting: HS2 requires SCS to undertake security vetting on all staff to the UK Government Baseline Personal Security Standard. All successful candidates will be subject to this vetting procedure as part of the on-boarding process.

    What will I be doing?

    We currently have a vacancy for a Data Analyst on our HS2 Main Works Contract.

    About the role:


    Responsible for data analysis and process configuration, setting up the systems’ integrations in collaboration with vendor and business. Once integrations have been implemented, the resource will focus more on process refinement and automation with an overall eye on data quality and reporting.


    Key Responsibilities:


    • Identify areas to increase efficiency and automation of processes;
    • Set up and maintain automated data processes;
    • Identify, evaluate and implement external services and tools to support data validation and cleansing;
    • Monitor and audit data quality;
    • Liaise with internal and external clients to fully understand data content;
    • Gather, understand and document detailed requirements and interface contracts using appropriate tools and techniques;
    • Manipulate, analyse and interpret complex data sets relating to the employer's business;
    • Educate and support business users with their reporting needs;
    • Prepare reports for internal and external audiences using business analytics reporting tools;
    • Create dashboards, graphs and visualisations;
    • Provide sector and competitor benchmarking;
    • Mine and analyse large datasets, draw valid inferences and present them successfully to management using a reporting tool;
    • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.



    About you

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:



    • Have a strong understanding of system integration and transferring data between systems;
    • Familiar or have experience with common API and associated principles (Rest/Soap, JSON/XML, Stateless, Asynchronous).



    • Knowledge or experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools;
    • Understanding or experience of Azure technologies such as Logic Apps, API Gateway, Service Bus and Event Grid.
