    We are looking for a cost focused Project Controls Engineer to act as the first point of contact for all project controls (and where applicable Project Accounting) activities and be a key contributor to improving processes, procedures and tools utilised by the function. They will use their planning experience to support further integration of the Cost and Planning Engineer team and report to the Manager of Cost Engineering.

    Based within the Manchester Cost Engineering Team you will be supporting a range of projects, working to analyse and understand trends to help ensure KPIs are tracked and achieved, this excellent opportunity will involve utilising your diverse experience with a range of reporting tools to provide meaningful insights to drive strategy and overall success across the board.

    What will I be doing?

    • Responsible for the monthly production of Contract Leader Report’s (CLR) reporting on profit, loss, project performance and health of the project.
    • Engaging with key Project Stakeholders
    • Managing and maintaining Cost Control and Forecasting on a range of projects.
    • Ensuring the basis of Estimates at Completion (EAC) is predicted using industry recognised approaches, including but not limited to, the latest resourced schedule and EVM productivity as to ensure accurate, reliable and consistent forecasting;
    • Man-hour reporting
    • Producing Application for Payments to the Client
    • Providing an integrated, timely and reliable Cost Reporting service to both internal and external stakeholders;
    • Change management.
    • Closing out contracts.
    • Producing integrated Performance Reports
    • Liaising with members of the Cost and Planning team to drive continuous improvement in the quality and accuracy of data produced
    • Analysis of Performance Data to identify highlight problem areas of the Work where Management focus can be most productively directed
    • Oversee the production and control of baselined, fully logic linked, cost and resource loaded plans, with appropriate milestones, utilising approved work breakdown structures and techniques for standard projects.
    • Support the estimating process to ensure a control estimate is in place for cost monitoring purposes.
    • Carry out review/analysis of project controls on a monthly basis to facilitate the determination of physical percentage complete and updating of plans, to an agreed timeframe, with the percentage complete values.

    About you

    • Ideally, has a recognised Project Controls qualification or is a part qualified accountant or solid experience in Project Controls/Cost Engineering.
    • Relevant experience within a Multi Discipline Engineering Project Management or Project Control environment
    • Strong communications skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels, particularly with Client Representatives;
    • Commercial awareness
    • Able to demonstrate expertise of Excel and should have had exposure to various bespoke cost management software systems
    • Have a good level of understanding of planning methodologies and techniques and a good working knowledge of the latest Primavera Planning Software Tool.
    • Experience with Business Intelligence Software (such as Power BI) preferred but not essential.
    • Can work to tight timescales and works well under pressure

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

    • Knowledge of the Engineering and Construction Industry
    • Competent IT skills including MS Excel and the ability to use this to manipulate data and produce data gathering templates
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint including SharePoint Lists
    • An ability to effectively interpret data and provide input on business process improvement
    • Good knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6
