Our Process Engineering team is seeking to recruit a Principal Process Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in the design of onshore Oil & Gas Processing Facilities. A Principal Process Engineer will normally be the most senior engineer of his discipline on a particular project with full authority to act as the Lead Engineer for that discipline on a project. The role reports to the Process Discipline Manager for line management and technical assurance and to the Project Engineering Manager for projedt discipline performance delivery.
May lead a team of process engineers on projects, studies and proposals, to execute the process engineering scope of work according to contract requirements, following company and client standards and procedures. Responsibility for discipline quality, programme and cost targets.
To perform own design work and check work by others in accordance with company procedures. To approve project deliverables when authorised by the Process Engineering Technical Authority.
To represent Process Engineering in discussions and meetings with client, vendors and third parties.
To develop discipline programme activities/deliverables and interdependencies, plan for adequate resources and to monitor and report design progress and man-hour usage to the project management team.
To work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary project delivery team, through proactive liaison with other disciplines and to ensure integration of Process Engineering design requirements into the overall engineering design.
To support the Process Engineering Technical Authority in technical development of the function.
To offer advice and support to colleagues and subordinates on development needs taking into account work activities, learning ability and circumstances. To communicate to team members the project objectives and execution strategies and provide training as required on company workflow, methods and business systems.
To ensure personal compliance with current company policy, relevant legislation and company and client’s requirements for Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental matters and work in such a manner not to cause personal harm or injury to fellow workers, client and subcontractor employees or the environment.
To support the Process Discipline Manager in delivering the company performance management process including setting objectives, assisting colleagues and subordinates in achieving their objectives, conducting performance reviews of team members where delegated and/or providing feedback on team member performance to their line managers.
The role is based in the Costain Manchester Office and may require travel to company, supplier or client offices or sites for business purposes.
