    Costain in Aberdeen is looking for mechanical engineers to support us with a number of upcoming projects. Ideally you will be Senior/Principal level.

     

    Ideally you will have experience in conceptual design and Front-end Engineering Design (FEED) with some greenfield experience as well as brownfield within the Oil & Gas arena.

     

    We are looking for people with a leaning towards either static and rotating equipment – we need at least one of each – who works well within a multi-disciplinary team and is keen to contribute to providing our clients with innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.

    What will I be doing?

    Summary of Role

    • Develop engineering design specifications, datasheets and requisition documents for assigned discipline deliverables
    • Ensure deliverables are produced to acceptable industry/client standards in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
    • Deliver all discipline activities to cost, schedule and quality criteria.
    • Assist with discipline objectives and budgets across business unit as required.  

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant codes, standards and procedures. Maintain and develop current awareness of relevant codes and standards.
    • Administer and implement company, client & project policies, standards and procedures (as applicable).
    • Provide input to cost & schedule estimates and execution plans.
    • Ensure delivery of assigned aspects of discipline design, specification and procurement to cost, schedule and quality criteria.
    • Ensure technical integrity of discipline deliverables produced on the project.
    • Plan and maintain the discipline progress on assigned CTRs.
    • Remain abreast of legislative requirements and relevant engineered technology
    • Checking and preparation of design/engineering documentation.
    • For assigned work ensure all interfaces to other disciplines are clearly defined and correctly engineered.
    • Liaise with other disciplines, departments, project personnel, vendors, clients, etc.
    • Management of third party suppliers in the execution of Engineering delivery. 
    • Attendance at Factory Acceptance Testing as required
    • Attendance at meetings at vendors & clients premises as required
    • Provide technical assistance to business development strategies, activities and initiatives as required.
    • Carry out site and offshore surveys as required

    About you

    Experience

     

    • Experience of working previously as Mechanical Engineer for an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor in a multi-disciplinary project team
    • Experience of project execution in conceptual study, FEED, Detailed Design & EPC project phases
    • Experience of mechanical equipment specification in the oil and gas industry (rotating, static or packaged)
    • Experience of managing equipment packages from PO placement through to commissioning

      

    Qualifications

    • Degree qualified preferred, or alternatively HND (or equivalent) with extensive experience
    • Chartered Engineer status desirable
    • Valid offshore survival & medical desirable
