    East Sussex Highways is a joint venture between Costain and CH2M which will bring together several aspects of highways maintenance, such as roads, pavements, drainage, street lights, traffic lights and structures that are currently run by outside contractors and the county council.

     

    We are looking for a Business Manager who will lead and be responsible for the management and achievement of compliance in all aspects of operational systems and the wider business facilities.

    What will I be doing?

    • Lead on Quality Management Systems compliance BSI 9001
    • Lead on Environmental Management Systems compliance ISO 14001
    • Lead on ISO 45001 in relation to Occupational Health and Safety Processes
    • Undertake Internal JV and Parent Company auditing processes and requirements
    • Support business leaders in their responsibility to embed Group standards and create a strong ethical, legally compliant and principled environment
    • Maintaining and helping to build out the Compliance Function from the ground up including the development of various compliance policies and procedures
    • Complete monitoring of internal compliance and regular review of internal compliance manuals and policies
    • Drafting and updating policies and procedures on a regular basis
    • Ensuring East Sussex Highways follows all regulatory requirements
    • Lead successful in-house implementation of regulatory changes with thorough understanding of the rules and regulations put in place by various regulators
    • Daily monitoring of various areas of the business
    • Responsible for the management of the buildings used by East Sussex Highways for the undertaking of the highways contract. Ensuring that all employees and visitors have a safe and fully functional workplace
    • Ensure that safe systems of work are documented and available for the use of all staff and visitors
    • Ensure that welfare facilities are available, to the correct standards
    • Ensure that all company procedures for the management of emergencies and business continuity, including fire are adhered to. Appropriately trained staff and in-date equipment are available making sure that all members of staff working in these facilities are aware of the procedures.
    • Develop and manage the budget for the efficient running of the facilities and supplies
    • This job may on occasion require working outside of normal office hours
    • Undertake any other duties commensurate with and appropriate to this role

    About you

    • Experience in management and monitoring of systems and procedures or similar
    • Competent in writing procedures and setting up systems which reflect and promote the best practices of customer care, quality, value for money, continuous improvement, and equality of opportunity in service delivery
    • Knowledge of statutory obligations affecting the service
    • Excellent communication skills across all mediums
    • Organisational skills
    • Accuracy/attention to detail
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work to deadlines
    • Experience with and a strong understanding of GDPR and DPA compliance
    • Flexible and adaptable in a constantly changing environment
