Costain helps to improve people’s lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation infrastructures.
National Grid’s gas compression facilities are required to comply with the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) directive, which is incorporated into the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). As a consequence National Grid’s Peterborough and Huntingdon compression sites have been identified as requiring upgrade to meet tighter emissions control limits set by the Environment Agency, and as per the IED directive.
The upgrade delivery scope includes the installation and tie-in of two new gas turbine driven compressors, and the design, build, test and commissioning of new pipework headers, and the Balance of Plant, control systems and infrastructure necessary to enable the station satisfy the requirements of the IED.
