  • About Costain and your project.

    Costain were appointed by Highways England to deliver two of the three sections of the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon Improvement Scheme as part of a Joint Venture (JV). The JV will complete two packages totalling circa £600 million of work. The A14 Improvement Scheme is required to enhance the capacity and reliability of the UK strategic road network in order to ensure better journeys for road users.

     

    Stretching over 25 miles, the works will improve this highly congested stretch of road. Initial design work will commence immediately with the development of detailed plans for the delivery phase, which commenced late 2016. The road will be open to traffic in 2020, with the works in Huntingdon town being completed after.

     

    What will I be doing?

    • Develop an integrated public relations strategy for the project
    • Promote a positive image of the project and raise public awareness of the benefits of the project
    • Promote positive relationships between all stakeholders
    • To act as central point of contact for all external enquiries ensuring a consistent message delivered
    • Maintain a register of complaints, queries, compliments and third party issues ensuring complaints are dealt with quickly and commitments made are actioned
    • Proactive involvement with local school and interest groups
    • Support the client and project team with media communications and PR matters
    • Preparation of communication literature
    • Adherence to Skanska policies and procedures
    • Ad hoc duties as job requires

    About you

    • Previous experience in a similar role
    • Degree level preferred
    • Understanding of the construction industry
    • Understanding of the statutory process for Compulsory Purchase Orders, Compensation Issues, the Public Inquiry process etc
    • Ability to draft Heads of agreement with land agents etc for legal ratification
    • Credible communicator / presenter with large groups of people.
    • Strong listening skills
