    The Aone+ is a joint venture between Costain, CH2M and Colas where they have been entrusted with completing a diverse range of maintenance, incident response, weather management and road engineering duties across over 4300 miles of major road network.  The network include Area 12 Yorkshire and Humberside and Area 4 in Kent which commenced from June 2016 for five years and have a combined estimated value of between £140m and £165 million per year.

     

    As a Highways Safety Patrol Inspector you will be part of a team carrying out walking and driven inspections of highway assets to the Highways England standards and recording the outcomes into the maintenance management system

    What will I be doing?

    • Organise and carry out inspections in compliance with the Area 12 Maintenance Requirement Plan and any Highways England standards as required. The inspections will primarily be driven, but some walked inspections will also be required
    • To upload survey routes out of the maintenance management system onto hand held data capture devices prior to site surveys

    • Manage defects and inspections in the maintenance management system  

    • To carry out evening-time road marking and road stud reflectivity surveys.

    • To recognise and categorise defects on the network and record them in the maintenance management system

    • To report any safety critical issue identified during an inspection to the network control centre  

    • To categorise the condition of highways assets.

    • Always behave in a professional manner when interacting with the public
    • Display an understanding of how inspections are funded and ensure the best use of time when on inspection routes

    • Combine inspection operations with other operations where possible to reduce traffic management costs

    About you

    • Previous experience in a similar role
    • Good IT literacy and MS Office experience
    • Valid UK Driving Licence
    • Good awareness of health and safety
    • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
    • Flexible approach to wotking hours, which include some evening work up to but not after midnight between October and February
    • Experience of dealing with members of the public
