    The Aone+ is a joint venture between Costain, CH2M and Colas where they have been entrusted with completing a diverse range of maintenance, incident response, weather management and road engineering duties across over 4300 miles of major road network.  The network include Area 12 Yorkshire and Humberside and Area 4 in Kent which commenced from June 2016 for five years and have a combined estimated value of between £140m and £165 million per year.

     

    As the Structures Team Leader for the Area 4 Design Team the role holder will provide line management, technical direction and guidance to the structures team across in conjunction with performance reporting to the Design Manager. Liaison with the Asset Lead in determining the asset needs and solution appropriateness are essential. The role holder will demonstrate accountability and provide positive leadership through enthusiasm and mentoring.

     

     

    What will I be doing?

    Report to the Design Manager, duties will include:

    • Work with them to achieve team and design objectives
    • Support the reporting of efficient internal KPI measures to monitor right first time delivery.
    • Ensure gateways and hold points in design process and procedures are appropriate and fully adhered to
    • Actively capture and encourage process improvements.
    • Work with them to create a positive working environment by both challenging and supporting where needed.
    • Identify areas of concern within your team so they can be managed.
    • Ensure gateways and hold points in design process and procedures are appropriate and fully adhered to.
    • Provide assurance that structures technical designs produced for the Area 4 ASC Contract are safe, right first time and fully meet operational and contractual requirements
    • Fully integrate with the IDT and Asset Team Leads to promote the embed the 'One Team' approach
    • Manage delivery of design services to programme and budget.
    • Ensure external services procured during scheme delivery are suitably skilled and deliver an appropriate product.
    • Ensure appropriate competency of staff allocated to projects
    • Ensure that design checks are appropriate and are being carried out in accordance with the DMRB
    • Undertake PDRs

    About you

    • Previous experience in a similar role
    • Recognised engineering or construction degree level qualification or equivalent experience
    • Chartered Member of ICE and IstructE
    • Financially and commercially aware
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to effectively manage and motivate a successful team
