    We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to provide support to the local and wider Finance team's within Costain and to assist in providing a high quality Finance function with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

    What will I be doing?

    • Maintenance of the Purchase Ledger including processing, matching and facilitating payment of all purchase invoices
    • Preparation and payment of monthly contractor payment run & overhead / staff expenses payments as required.
    • Responsibility for the management of the sales ledger including preparation of sales invoices and ensuring these are issued in a timely manner with the correct backup documentation. Liaise with project managers as necessary to ensure correct adherence to contracts on a client by client basis/
    • Preparation of weekly “13 week” cash flow for review by Finance Manager and submission to group in line with the timetable
    • Responsibility for the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns to Finance Manager for review before onward submission to group finance.
    • Assist with monthly management account preparation including calculation of accruals and prepayments, preparation of journals and customer margin analysis
    • Responsibility to complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts
    • Report on the position of outstanding debtors to senior management within the Upstream business and to Costain Group in Maidenhead.
    • Assist in the preparation of group reporting packs at half year and year end and assist with external audit queries as required
    • Perform the role of timesheet administrator for the Upstream business as part of a wider team ensuring weekly completion of timesheets to a high standard and their associated approvals along with the subsequent postings to the ledgers in line with stated deadlines.
    • Support and any other duties as requested by the Finance Manager


    About you

    • Relevant Higher Grades in Mathematics or Business / Finance
    • Part Qualified Accountant with a desire to continue studying
    • Previous experience in a similar role
    • Purchase and Sales Ledger Experience
    • Experience with accounting software (Oracle E1 desirable
    • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 products
