    CMDP is a Joint Venture between MWHT and Costain based on a 50/50 share relationship. The Joint Venture was set up to deliver the 5 year (2015 – 2020) AMP6 (Process) Programme in South East England (East Sussex and Kent) for Southern Water. The Delivery Contract is worth £200 million over 5 years.

    CMDP is delivering a range of schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works in the eastern half of its region (Kent & East Sussex). CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH.

    CMDP will be carrying out approximately £200m of work during AMP6 (2015-2020), with an option to extend the framework agreement in to AMP7.

    What will I be doing?

    Purpose of role: To support the Framework Director with the planning and implementation of the framework activities in order to ensure JV targets for delivery, turnover and profitability are met.

     

    • Provide input to the CMDP Framework business plan and strategies.
    • Plan, develop and implement strategy for operational delivery.
    • Oversee the successful delivery of projects to scope, target cost, quality, programme and completion encompassing design, engineering, construction, handover and commercial aspects ensuring perfect delivery is achieved.
    • Be accountable for, and deliver, high levels of performance in key areas of health and safety, environment, sustainability and quality and champion continuous improvement and best value, ensuring compliance with the quality systems which constantly support our delivery philosophy.
    • Ensure that project costs are rigorously managed and expenditure is recorded accurately at all times.
    • Implement individual project execution plan(s) for projects, managing and reviewing performance of contracts against financial and operational targets.
    • Meet with JV Board to review project financials including cost to date, procurement, change orders, predicted final profit and contingency, and margin distribution.
    • Provide direction, motivation and leadership to both internal staff and external consultants or contractors engaged in providing technical support activities to the project.
    • Act as leader on technical engineering issues.
    • To build an effective partnering culture within the joint venture to ensure collaborative effort is applied where appropriate.
    • Provide the senior management team with advice and expertise on critical issues regarding the projects, and implementation.
    • Be an active part of the respective steering groups and job communities to ensure the changes to the business deliver a benefit to Southern Water and support the target operating model initiative.
    • Seek to find opportunities to deliver efficiencies in programme management and the control of projects and assure such processes/systems in place are complied with.
    • Gather feedback and learning such that processes and systems can be optimised.
    • Use performance data to manage the performance of individuals and internal/external stakeholders.
    • Create a culture and behaviours of collaboration through the promotion of an integrated team context.
    • Identify, at programme level, and delivery efficiencies through batching of projects across all runways.
    • Define, with Southern Water and the SSP, where appropriate, the costs and schedules for the projects and liaise with the delivery team during the project lifecycle to ensure costs remain as per estimate.
    • Present to the relevant Stakeholders information on programme/project cost and schedule performance.
    • Identify those specialist and skills to be engaged with during programme and project planning which should be engaged as part of ECI.
    • Prepare for and attend the investment delivery gateway(s) to assure the pre-requisites of sign-off approval are met. Southern Water shall be an active participant in key design & construction decisions.
    • Regularly monitor the performance Framework measures and identify shortfalls in performance requiring improvement interventions.  Additionally where performance is being exceeded analyse the success factors are share such knowledge.

    DUTIES

     

    • Produce in collaboration with the team the Framework project execution plan and gain authority for execution of the plan from the Framework Director.
    • Produce an updated report each month for internal reporting.
    • Formally appoint necessary personnel in accordance with the list of required appointments contained within the HASEMP.
    • Review and update the Risk and Opportunity Register every month and include the top 5 risks and opportunities in the Monthly Report.
    • Prepare delivery performance narratives for inclusion with the JV Board Pack.
    • Appoint suitably qualified and competent commissioning and construction personnel.

    About you

    Essential:

    • Experience in a similar role with senior management responsibilities
    • Strategic, operational, technical and management skills
    • Able to demonstrate strong leadership capability
    • Demonstrable client facing joint venture experience
    • Drive to establish and embed positive delivery within the Joint Venture organisation
    • Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering related discipline.
    • Must be delivery driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives
    • Experience in the Water/Waste Water Treatment Industry
