    Thames Tideway Tunnel, Main Works East is a £650m project recently secured by a Costain joint venture (“CVB”), to provide a new 7.2m diameter tunnel to divert waste from the Victorian built sewer from discharging into the Thames. The tunnel runs from Chambers Wharf to Abbey Mills where it connects with the Lee Tunnel. The works include: the main tunnel drive, a connection tunnel from Greenwich Pumping Station, shaft constructions, a connection to the newly constructed Lee Tunnel project, and minor works at Beckton Sewage Treatment, all as part of an overall project to reduce sewer discharge overflows into the River Thames. The works are scheduled to commence on site in March 2016 and complete in March 2022.

    Costain are looking to add a Change Manager to their Commercial team based in Bermondsey and a short distance from Bermondsey underground station.

     

    This a full time, permanent position and so any Agency, freelance or consultant applications will not be considered

    What will I be doing?

    • To maximise and protect the JV’s commercial position by supporting the management of the commercial and administrative functions in respect of Project Change
    • Provision of commercial support and guidance at various phases of a project as required
    • Support commercial and financial reporting information of Project Change
    • Price change management
    • Quotations including formal preparation, submission, negotiation and agreement for PM implementation
    • Support the management and recording of “Change”
    • Effective member of the Change Team
    • Support management of the Early Warning procedure within the change team, engaging with the project managers team, close out EWNs in agreement with the Project Manager including attending weekly EWN meetings and any extraordinary meetings as required/as necessary
    • Schedule outstanding PMIs which are required from the EWN and RFI processes
    • Support the management of the Project Manager Instruction process (PMI)
    • Support the management of Notifications of Compensation Event process (NCE) including the issuing of any Contractor (JV) NCEs
    • Support the agreement of principles of the NCE with the Project Manager and the eventual pricing up (quotation assessment) of any NCEs; liaison with commercial and project teams to ensure relevant information is disseminated to the supply chain
    • Support the Trend process and maintenance of the Trend Register
    • Support management of the RFI outputs which change the Works Information to enable full recovery of any changes that occur through the RFI process
    • Support management of the Contractual Correspondence between the Project Manager and the Contractor; this includes distribution and responding to any Contractual Communications within the required timescale to protect the Contractor’s contractual position.
    • Support consolidated reporting of the financial figures resulting from the Change Management process to Lead Change Manager for input to the completion of the Project Dashboard and the JV Board Report to meet project reporting timescales.
    • Support the coordination of project disciplines with the Lead Change Manager / Senior Commercial Manager, the Project Controls Manager and Planning and project disciplines.
    • Support the management and guidance of outputs required from planning disciplines; knowledge and appreciation of critical path analysis in Accepted Programme in order to support time impacts of EWNs/PMIs/NCEs

    About you

    • Degree or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subject
    • Relevant commercial experience preferably with a contracting organisation
    • Preferably qualified to RICS / ICES accreditation
    • Relevant CSCS Card
    • NEC contract experience

     

    This is a suitable opportunity for a QS / SQS who is seeking specific experience with the Change team environment in the process and management of compensation events on a major project.
