    We are seeking an enthusiastic technician to work for an innovative UK engineering and technology company. The permanent office based job will be within the technology design and manufacturing facility based at south of Bristol. We produce bespoke products to fulfil customer requirements in harsh and hazardous environments, including CCTV camera system, 3G/4G connected sensors and communications equipment. All products produced are subject to accredited external testing for an industrial environment.

    The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic hands-on technician with experience of multi-discipline product assembly and test. The candidate will be working as part of production group responsible for manufacturing of the electronic, electrical and mechanical aspects of embedded systems. The candidate will need to be able to demonstrate experience of wiring and components of embedded products and testing of electronic assemblies at the hardware level. The ability to carry out embedded product system testing will be desired. The candidate will also be motivated to facilitate the hardware engineer team on design and development of products and responsible for delivering prototype assemblies, review drawings, modification to PCBs and test manufacturing goods.


    What will I be doing?

    • Collaborate with the line manager, quality assurance and hardware design team for all required build and test assembly
    • Assembly of prototypes (e.g. metalwork, enclosures, PCB, wiring) with semi complete working in progress data pack for example schematics, drawings and part lists.
    • Modification and improvement on prototype builds to design for manufacturing standard
    • Identify problems and suggest improvements e.g. mechanical errors, safety issues or in identified inefficiency and attempt to troubleshoot the issue with potential solutions
    • Estimation of resource and time required to complete assembly task from working in progress data pack
    • Product documentation review e.g. drawings, part list, test procedure, assembly drawings for both prototype and developed products
    • Quality workmanship to IPC-620 standard e.g. produce and fit wiring looms with calibrated hand crimp tool
    • Quality soldering skills to remove, replace, modify surface mount components down to QFP and 603 size, QFN and 402 level will be preferred.
    • Understanding of PCB schematics, wiring interfaces and mechanical CAD drawings

    • Assemble and test electronic hardware
    • Ability to modify mechanical components with hand tools
    • Ability to solder surface mount components to a high standard
    • Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail, good organisation and capable of working independently to production schedule
