    The role of Senior Electrical Designer is to be responsible for an individual project or group of projects.  The role is of day-to-day control of the discipline’s drawing office activities, that is to ensure that the discipline drawing office content of projects are fulfilled efficiently and in accordance with the project quality, budget and programme requirements.

    What will I be doing?

    • Supervise and carry out design work on projects.  Ensure all drawing office deliverables, whether CAD or manually produced, satisfy company accuracy and presentational requirements and are prepared in accordance with the Company and Project Quality Assurance requirements.
    • Responsible for checking and approval of drawings in accordance with Company Procedures.
    • Act as a Proposal Discipline Section Leader on proposals as assigned by the Chief Electrical Engineer and to supervise and carry out design work for such proposals.
    • To ensure that all drawing office work is produced and issued in accordance with Company Standards, and fully satisfies quality requirements.
    • Ensure personal compliance with current company policy, relevant legislation and company and client’s requirements for Health, Safety and Environmental matters and work in such a manner not to cause personal harm or injury to fellow workers, client and subcontractor employees or the environment.
    • Ensure all work is carried out in a manner that will produce a safe and operable design, and that all personnel assigned work in a safe manner; in particular ensure that all personnel assigned to the worksite are adequately briefed and trained.
    • Control, monitor and report design progress and manhour usage.
    • Liaise with other disciplines as required.
    • Responsible for the control of overtime and drawing office discipline.
    • Identify the need for and to be involved in staff training, as directed by the Chief Electrical Engineer.

    About you

    • HNC / HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
    • Previous experience with a proven track record as a Senior Designer on several projects in a similar environment.
    • Broad, expert knowledge of design work practices and installation requirements of the discipline in a wide range of industries.
    • Able to manage a project discipline drawing office team and achieve objectives with resources available.
    • Able to effectively plan project drawing office work over several projects and establish and balance priorities and allocate resources.
    • Proven capability as a Project Discipline Designer by the successful execution of a number of projects in a range of industries and clients.
