    We are looking to add a Principal Electrical Engineer to the team who will be responsible either a technical specialist or project discipline engineer for an individual project, group or projects or proposals. 

     

    You will be required to assume control of all the electrical discipline content of projects, working within the project schedule, budget and quality requirements and supervising other electrical engineers and designers as required on the project.  

    What will I be doing?

    • Responsible for all discipline technical input to projects or proposals
    • Make independent technical decisions on the project Organise discipline staff, allocating work and ensuring delivery against plan
    • Ensure all applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation and company/client standards and procedures are complied with
    • Prepare, check and/or approve engineering deliverables on the project
    • Prepare equipment and materials requisitions for HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, power factor correction, trace-heating, lighting and other electrical equipment
    • Prepare subcontract requisitions specifying installation scopes of work
    • Review suppliers quotations and prepare technical bid assessments
    • Carry out power study calculations including load profiles, fault levels and cable sizing
    • Conduct inspections and witness tests on equipment being supplied/manufactured
    • Carry out technical investigations and produce technical reports
    • Assist in the development and training of personnel within the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Department
    • Assist in preparation of proposals as required

     

    About you

    • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
    • Achieved or working towards Chartered Status
    • Demonstrable experience in leading electrical teams on medium and large projects, have the ability to monitor and control budgets, report progress and liaise with other departments and functions.
    • Knowledgeable and experienced in the design and installation of HV and LV distribution equipment.
    • Knowledgeable and experienced in the requirements for installation of electrical equipment in process plants and in particular for the installation of electrical equipment in potentially explosive areas.
    • Experienced in the provision of packaged plant and equipment
