    We are looking to add a Princiapl Instrument Engineer to the team who will be responsible for delivering the instrument design on FEED and EPC projects.

    What will I be doing?

    • Responsibility for all discipline technical input to projects or proposals
    • Make independent technical decisions on the project
    • Organise discipline staff, allocating work and ensuring delivery against plan
    • Ensure all applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation and company/client standards and procedures are complied with
    • Prepare, check and/or approve engineering deliverables on the project
    • Prepare equipment and materials requisitions for instrumentation and control equipment and input to requisitions for other discipline packaged equipment
    • Prepare subcontract requisitions specifying installation scopes of work
    • Review suppliers quotations and prepare technical bid assessments
    • Carry out reliability calculations and validate that SIL requirements are achieved in line with IEC 61511/61508
    • Conduct inspections and witness tests on equipment being supplied/manufactured
    • Carry out technical investigations and produce technical reports
    • Support process safety lead studies such as Hazap, Hazops, LOPA and SIL assessments
    • Assist in the development and training of personnel within the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Department
    • Assist in preparation of proposals as required

    About you

    • Degree qualified
    • Achieved chartered status or working towards
    • Knowledgeable and experienced in the design and installation of field instrumentation

    • Knowledgeable and experienced in the requirements for installation of instrumentation in process plants and in particular for the installation of electrical equipment in potentially explosive areas

    • Knowledgeable and experienced in the specification and design of equipment in line with safety standards IEC 61511 and IEC 61508

    • Knowledgeable and experienced in the specification and design of plant control systems including DCS, PLC and SCADA

    • Knowledgeable and experienced in the requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment, including Atex, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive and EMC Compliance

    • Experienced in the provision of packaged plant and equipment

    • Experienced in leading instrument teams on medium and large projects, demonstrating the ability to monitor and control budgets, report progress and liaise with other departments and functions
