    We are looking for a Delivery Project Manager who will report to the Project Sponsor and is responsible for the direction and leadership of all activities associated with the full life cycle delivery project.


    This post has the responsibility to ensure delivery of all the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities for the life cycle of the scheme in accordance with the overall Project schedule. This post will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the business case.

    What will I be doing?

    • Management and overall accountability circa £100-170m Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management Services or EPC
    • Prime contact for client
    • Define the work scope to be delivered within each package, establishing the execution strategy and the interfaces to the other elements of the scheme
    • Drive the delivery of the works to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements.
    • Monitor and manage the progress of the programme – track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports.
    • Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the project team and wider delivery programme.
    • Identify risks and facilitate resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate issues to the Project Sponsor.
    • Develop the contract and procurements strategies to deliver the packages, once various contracts are signed, ensure the packages are technically delivered to the clients satisfaction.
    • Ensure level 3 schedules are developed and maintained for the work. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall Project schedules (Level 1 and 2) and escalate any discrepancies.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all project team members.
    • Responsible for identifying, securing and managing direct reports as appropriate – plus a matrix team of other disciplines. This may involve the management of design, procurement, commercial and construction management resources of between 10 – 20 staff.
    • Establish communication protocols and procedures to Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders.
    • Has complete authority for the selection of personnel, in terms of numbers and quality, to ensure that the necessary skills and experience relevant to the project are provided

    About you

    • Track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Energy section or similar environment.
    • Demonstrate success in managing/ developing:
      • Engineering design, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
      • Multi-discipline EPC or EPCM projects,
      • Procurement and management of complex contracts,
      • Control of costs, risks, schedule and change,
      • Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
    • Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders.
    • Able to demonstrate strong management skills, including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling, programming and risk tools.
    • Experience of managing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, including NEC or FIDIC contracts.
    • Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
    • Experience in power generation projects at pre investment and post investment design and construction.
    • Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, physics or other related field.
    • Can demonstrate experience of managing project through the project lifecycle from concept to handover.
    • Understanding the needs of quality and how quality is assured and controlled.
    • Member of APM with minimum APMP (IPMA Level D)
    • Safety leadership qualification - Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Managing Safely in Construction
    • From an engineering background with considerable experience in the project management of energy projects. Experience managing projects on an EPC or EPCm basis from the contractor side and will be able to identify and mitigate the risks associated with EPC contracts.
    • Ability to communicate and negotiate with clients effectively.
