    Costain helps to improve people’s lives by deploying technology-based engineering solutions to meet urgent national needs across the UK’s energy, water and transportation infrastructures.

     

    Costain were appointed by Highways England to deliver two of the three sections of the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon Improvement Scheme as part of a Joint Venture (JV). The JV will complete two packages totalling circa £600 million of work. The A14 Improvement Scheme is required to enhance the capacity and reliability of the UK strategic road network in order to ensure better journeys for road users.

     

    Stretching over 25 miles, the works will improve this highly congested stretch of road. Initial design work will commence immediately with the development of detailed plans for the delivery phase, which commenced late 2016. The road will be open to traffic in 2020, with the works in Huntingdon town being completed after.

     

    We are looking for a Business Improvement Coordinator to provide business improvement activity to support the improvement project delivery programme.

    What will I be doing?

    • Brings passion and drive to the capture of efficiencies such that this becomes embedded in how everyone works within the A14 IDT.
    • Monitor the project team progress in capturing, realising ideas and efficiencies and put in place mitigation plans.
    • Assists in the collaboration between all disciplines to monitor, capture and share Lean improvement, best practice and innovation through the Efficiency Process.
    • Assist in the realisation of new technologies and innovative working practices specific to the project and prepare business case proposals as necessary.
    • Collate and report project performance against objectives and targets.
    • Updates and maintains the A14 Ideas and Efficiency Registers
    • Ensures a relentless focus on the A14 programme of zero harm and supports the delivery of the A14 sustainability target.
    • Assists in other efficiencies and Improvements activities when required e.g. the application of lean techniques and principles

    About you

     

    • Previous experience in a similar role
    • Excellent MS Office and Database Management skills
    • Strong communication skillls - ability to deliver clear concise reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner
    • Experience within construction and civil engineering
    • Previous experience of implementing project controls, reporting to drive project performance and cost saving realisation experience
    • Ability to integrate into collaborative teams and contribute to the performance management requirement of parent organisations
    • Excellent team player able to work competently and independently without supervision
    • Valid UK driving licence
