The eight₂O Alliance is a grouping of industry leaders working in collaboration to design and deliver essential improvements to Thames Water’s ageing infrastructure. The multi - £billion contract will be delivered by the 8-partner Alliance which includes two design and build Joint Ventures. Costain’s JV will be predominantly delivering projects in the Thames Valley and Thames South Regions. There is a mix of Waste Water Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure, and Water Infrastructure and Non-Infrastructure projects across the framework. 


Costain are looking to add a Training Officer to their Eight2o team whom will be responsible for the Delivery of Operations Training to Thames Water’s staff in a timely manner before Takeover for all eight2O Schemes/Projects during the AMP period.

What will I be doing?

Based from our Hampton Office and working from sub offices around the Thames area, the Training Officer will be responsible for:

  • The identification of training requirements of Thames Water Staff
  • Ensure supply chain/sub-contractor is providing the agreed training requirements.
  • Liaising with Eight2o Managers to ensure sufficient training is allocated to projects
  • Liaise with local Thames Water Managers to ensure successful completion of staff training across all areas
  • Reporting on a regular basis on quality issues, programme issues, development of good practice techniques, & to ensure the training is successfully delivered

The production of training documentation, which will include:

  • Training Plan
  • Training Programmes
  • Training Objectives
  • Attendance Records
  • MCQ Assessments
  • Feedback Questionnaires
  • Summary
  • Completion Certificates
  • Production of training handouts to support classroom & practical training
  • Production of site specific training packs
  • Organise the facilities for on-site training
  • Organisation and Co-ordination of training sessions on site for client staff
  • Oversee & give advice to any Sub Contractor training
  • Production & issue of Training Record to Commissioning Manual & Twexnet

As part of the eight2O Training Team the Training Officer will work closely with colleagues both within the Commissioning/MEICA Team & within Thames Water for:

  • Regular meetings to ensure training requirements are agreed & met
  • Ensure good levels of communication with all parties are maintained
  • Ensure eight2O policies & procedures are adhered to always
  • Help & support the zero H&S and Environmental incidents commitment

About you

Good understanding of the Systems Approach to Training (SAT). Including:

  • Identification and Analysis of Training Needs
  • Training Design
  • Training Evaluation and Assessment
  • Training Delivery

An understanding of wastewater and water treatment

Competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)

Experience in running both Theory and Practical Training sessions

Ability to work flexibly when required

Innovative thinker

Ability to communicate at all levels and encourages two-way communication

Adopt an organized, flexible and systematic approach to work and tasking’s

Manages multiple tasks

Take ownership of and resolve problems quickly and effectively
