HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services.


Costain Skanska Joint Venture (CSJV) are delivering the Enabling Works Contract (EWC) programme of works for HS2, across the Southern area, to make way for the main civil and station build contracts. The scope of the EWC South includes demolition, utilities diversions, highways, archaeology, and ecology works over 4-6 years, with an estimated final value in excess of £500m. You will be directly involved in the delivery of the programme of circa 150 individual projects and will help contribute to skills and employment in the local community, leaving a positive legacy.

What will I be doing?

Manage the register for undertakings and assurances (U&A), including commitment compliance plans and provision of evidence.


Key responsibilities:

  • Assigning undertakings and assurances to work packages or disciplines
  • Briefing the project & subcontractors on U&A requirements in line with HS2 works information requirements
  • Work with the delivery teams to ensure works are carried out in accordance with U&A requirements
  • Facilitating the writing of commitments compliance plans (CCP) for all U&A’s
  • Manage the evidence capturing process as detailed in the CCP’s
  • Ensuring all evidence is uploaded onto clients IBM DOORS system in a timely manner
  • Carrying out audits on compliance with U&A’s
  • Liaise with document control to ensure all evidence is available in eB
  • Manage discharge process
  • Work with others (main works/stations) to agree handover where a U&A remains past the early works contractor
  • Monitor and report on progress of commitments
  • Investigate and collate evidence for any breach of U&A’s
  • Attend regular reviews with HS2 for compliance/audits
  • Provide performance data

About you



  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, co-ordinating and managing inputs to particular work streams (essential)
  • Developing and managing strategic processes (essential)
  • Stakeholder management experience (essential)
  • Experience in managing U&A’s or commitments (desirable)
