    The Aone+ is a joint venture between Costain, CH2M and Colas where they have been entrusted with completing a diverse range of maintenance, incident response, weather management and road engineering duties across over 4300 miles of major road network.  The network include Area 12 Yorkshire and Humberside and Area 4 in Kent which commenced from June 2016 for five years and have a combined estimated value of between £140m and £165 million per year.

     

    We are looking to add an experienced Works Supervisor to the team, reporting to the Operation Works Manager.

     

    What will I be doing?

    • Ensure timely execution of works orders and cyclic schemes
    • Check and authorise timesheet submissions from operational staff to ensure correct coding and to monitor hours worked
    • Programme, allocate, manage and record staffing, plant and material resources effectively on a daily basis to suit work
    • Conduct and record ongoing interim physical measurements during works and upon works completion
    • Ensure works orders are effectively managed and evidence of work completed is present and robust
    • Supervise operational staff on a daily basis, including assessing competency of individuals carrying out tasks, monitoring performance, monitoring sickness absence, identifying any training needs and conducting inductions
    • Supervisory responsibility for Health and Safety of the workforce including conducting ‘tool box talks’ and the communication of other health and safety rules and alerts
    • Ensure that all plant and equipment deployed on the Network complies with current health and safety legislative requirements and is fully utilised
    • Reporting all health and safety incidents involving CHC and Supply Chain staff to the Operation Team Managers
    • Maintain a common daily diary, logging actions and ensuring an appropriate hand-over occurs between shifts with colleagues
    • Ensure CHC and parent company information, including changes to work procedures, are communicated effectively and made readily available to all of the workforce, via notice boards, team briefings etc.
    • Conduct regular depot inspections and taking responsibility for actions arising
    • Ensure vehicle and depot security and maintenance, liaising with the Works Manager and the Plant and Transport Manager as required

     

    About you

    • Previous Highways experience
    • SMSTS
    • Basic IT competency (Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
    • Flexible approach to working hours, evening and weekends when on call for incidents/winter service
    • Ability to effectively plan, allocate and supervise staffing, plant and material resources
    • Able to motivate staff and handle basic staffing issues (personnel and on-the job training)
    • Thorough and methodical disposition to monitor individual staff development, planning and arranging training or ‘buddying’ opportunities
    • Adaptable and flexible to cope with the variety of responsibilities involved and to suit peaks and troughs in workload
    • Good communication skills for interface with members of the public and other stakeholders
